Nikoneers,

I don't have the 105/2.5, but I'm quite familiar with this lens, and I have
just been using the 85/1.8 AF-D for about a month.
The 85/1.8 is very useful for indoor portrait (very usable from f/1.8
through f/8). This lens does not have the best 'bokeh', but it IS extremely
sharp, even wide-opened. So, it makes an excellent low light lens (with low
price, too)
The 105/2.5, or speaking about 105mm, is more useful (for me) when taking
portraits outdoor. I personally use 105/2.8 Micro AIS which is very sharp
even at f/2.8 - while the 105/2.5 isn't that sharp wide-opened. I had this
confusion 4 years ago, but luckily I chose the 105/2.8.

I don't feel comparing 85 and 105 wise, because both are not substitutes,
and the 135s too. It's just a matter of what you need at a time. You won't
go wrong with all 85/105 Nikkors.

Just my 1 cent (not two!),

Winston
