Eric, good explanation of how it works. Still I would like to express that the meter cannot tell the difference in brightness between shades of the same color (eg. gray). It has no way of determining if the subject is a plane white, gray or black wall if there are no features on the wall (no contrast info). If I am wrong, please correct me.
