I'd love to stay & I appreciate your kind words. What's causing me to hesitate
is that there are literally dozens upon dozens of these for each camera brand,
plus the rec.photo newsgroups, plus AOL and C'Serve photo forums. It quickly
piles up.

The new Minolta is the Maxxum (or Dynax) 9 & its pop-up flash has a GN
of 12 in metres at ISO 100 and covers a 24mm lens.

See http://www.maxwell.com.au/photo/cameras/slr/f100_specs.html for better
specs
than are on the Nikon USA site.
The F100 has a 96% finder but does not, I believe, offer mirror lock-up.

Tiffen and Helipoan each offer 72mm metal lens hoods. Tiffen's is
19.50;
Heliopan's is 49.95, but not in stock here at present.

The outer threads of all Nikon pol filters are non-standard sizes. I believe
the outer rim of the 62mm filter is 70mm. I know the outer rim of the 52mm
circ
pol is 60mm. What I suggest is buy the filter and the matched HN-26 hood and
follow M&M's advice (which I first heard suggested long ago at a Nikon School)
& go the Tupperware route. For instance, I keep Nikon hoods on all my Nikon
lenses and rather than unscrew each at the end of every job simply to add lens
caps, I have a Tupperware cap (from their 8 oz tumbler set) on each, except on
the hood of my 20/4 which uses either a Pringles cap or the lid from a can of
tennis balls.
By the way, M&M is no longer in business. Manny (the "M" from M&M) has joined
B&H's staff.
