LOL, I'm consistently amazed at the lengths people will go to in order to
"test" a piece of equipment under unreasonable and unrealistic conditions.

Eric wrote that in response to my testing procedure for the 80-200 f 2.8,
and he brings up a very good point, albeit not the one he may have
intended. One should always consider the source when judging advice, and
I haven't been on the list long enough for people to have a handle on my
qualifications, so this it may be a good time. Now, I am far from being
the world's greatest expert on photography, but I have been in the business
a little. Here are just a few of the things in my background that might be
relevant:
- -10 years old- started swiping my dad's SLR and burning bulk Tri-X.
- -11 years old- Helped my dad build the darkroom and started spending
countless hours getting B&W prints perfect on fiber-based Polycontrast
paper (RC paper didn't exist back then).
- -Shot for local papers while still in Jr. High.
- -Four-year degree in photography from UMBC
- -Worked at University of Maryland Physics Department designing and
building
optical systems for development of digital encoding algorythms.
- -Worked as assistant to National Geographic photographer Martin Rogers for
two years, as well as for other major shooters in the early 1980's.
- -Photographed assignments for the National Geographic Society
- -Former Photo Editor, Prince George's County Herald
- -Former Director of Photography, Sidelines Magazine
- -Won "Magazine Cover of the Year" (bronze Ozzie Award) from the National
Art Directors Association
- -Shot far too many publication covers to count
- -Have written articles on photographic technique for Outdoor and Travel
Photography Magazine
- -Done photography assignments for major national circulation magazines
- -Corporate clients include several Fortune 500 companies
