It has a better user interface(IMO), sliding MODE
switch instead of the soft button.  Has less prolems.
Has a built-in slave.

Are you sure?  Do Canon, Minolta & Pentax lenses
perform similarly?  I don't seem to have encountered
such problems with my AFS 80-200.

You are testing, I think, a 12 year old optical design.

Anyway do other lenses of other makes have this problem
too?  Or is it just your lens?  Just wondering, since I
never noticed it with my previous lens.

The TC-14E will NOT provide autofocus with this lens.
The AF Nikkor 300mm f/4.0 ED-IF does not have an
internal motor (coreless or silent wave).
