All this talk about light falloff in the AF80-200 f/2.8 brings up a few
important points. 1) all lenses have light fall off.  It's an inherent
optical situation.  Wide angle lenses have it far worse than normal or
telephotos but it's still there. As for the 1 1/2 stop fall off
mentioned for the 80-200, I think that's a bit much.  It will falloff
more at the long end and worse wide open than stopped down a bit.  2)
The 80-200 is a superb optic and certainly falls into the ranks of
"legendary" Nikkors.  Many of you love and rave over lenses that were
designed decades ago because they are still viable designs.  Someone
mentioned that it's 12 years old as if that meant that it is a tired old
design and that is just not correct.  Let's face it: AI-S lenses haven't
changed since the AF models came out but that doesn't mean that your
105mm f/2.5 is junk.
