My understanding is that voltage not amps is the problem with the F5. Greys of Westminster (the U.K. Nikon dealer) claim the F5 needs 10v to operate. NiMH batteries are 1.2v each=9.6v. So, even if they work fresh, they will soon lose push and the camera will not operate. The MN-30 battery has 10 1.2v cells in it to give 12v. (alkalines and lithiums give 12v). However, I have never actually tried rechargeables in my F5, so reality may differ. I bought lithiums and have shot AT LEAST 50 rolls on my first set (probably more) with AF and an 80-200f2.8 most of the time and still no half power warning (I also left the camera switched on all last week). Lithiums are light and in my hands, last for ages. --------------------------- Someone asked how to make the F5 autorewind. Sorry, it won't for some bizarre reason (what else are you going to do with an exposed film?). Stewart
