I have to agree with the people who stated that your attitude is everything. If
you approach people in a pleasant way and show some understanding of their job
(i.e. stopping terrorists-a fairly useful occupation in my opinion), you are
likely to get co-operation. Airport security is not the place to shout the odds.
I have rarely had films x-rayed (JFK and Newark both refused, but no harm was
done to Velvia, never in Europe). I am flying from London to Paris next week, so
I will see how I do!
