Hi, I just sent off this message to Rob, but I forgot to include the NILO mailinglist. Does anyone else have hints on where to look? ----- Forwarded message ----- I've altered the NILO sources so they would build with OSKit 20010214, and have built the nilo-image (I assume this how you tested the code as well; if not, please tell me how instead). I've started it in Bochs (x86 emulator) and right after GRUB loads and decompresses nilo.gz, Bochs panics and gives the following output: bochs: panic, prefetch: running in bogus memory 28758691 Last time is 988815606 28758691 Note: X11: bx_gui_c::exit() not implemented yet. 28758691 CPU:0 28758691 protected mode 28758691 CS.d_b = 32 bit 28758691 SS.d_b = 32 bit 28758691 | EAX=53f000ff EBX=00398a78 ECX=00000001 EDX=003aaf74 28758691 | ESP=003aaefc EBP=003aaf18 ESI=00000800 EDI=003aada8 28758691 | IOPL=0 NV UP EI PL NZ NA PE CY 28758691 | SEG selector base limit G D 28758691 | SEG sltr(index|ti|rpl) base limit G D 28758691 | DS:0018( 0003| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | ES:0018( 0003| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | FS:0000( 0000| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | GS:0000( 0000| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | SS:0018( 0003| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | CS:0010( 0002| 0| 0) 00000000 000fffff 1 1 28758691 | EIP=53f000ff (53f000ff) 28758691 >> 28758691 0828758691 f528758691 : or |MOD3|REG6|RM5| CH, DH NILO doesn't get a chance to put anything on the screen (I verified that by letting Bochs wait for a few seconds right before exiting). My question is if this is similar to the behaviour you saw while testing; a spontaneous reboot or crash right after the (semi-)kernel was started? If not, could you please explain what you did get, and if you didn't use the nilo-image, what did you build from the source tree instead? Meanwhile, I'm going to try to isolate the problem in the NILO source, and see if it's fixable. ----- End forwarded message ----- Wouter -- * Wouter Coene * C/PHP3/TCL/Shell scripting * * [EMAIL PROTECTED] * #include <std-disclaimer.h> * *"First they ignore you.
