PS: I'm not an Apple salesman (:
I don't mind at all the bits and pieces I (have to) put together to extend the range of the work environment. It's part of the fun, and frankly it's unrealistic to expect an OS to do it all. With a WP, though, I have to say my first real work horse, after ponying around with Word Perfect on university PC's in the late 80's, was NW on my first very own personal computer - an Apple (a Centris 610). I believe NW was at 3.4 then (1994, and just "Nisus"). My experience was that the software did intend to encompass nearly all my text preparing needs. The graphics layer was (and still is, to me anyway) simply amazing. The table tool was terrible, but it was there. The clamor for columns, outlining and zoom features equally led me to assume a single-solution approach. For my bread an butter work, I have never been able to break free of it.
