Be Fit: What to do in Your 30s ** *If you are in your 30s*:
- By age 30, everyone should know what their blood pressure is doing, their cholesterol level, and their fasting blood glucose level. If there is a history of family heart disease or diabetes, you should get this checked out sooner. During your 30s, it is recommended that you visit your doctor about 3 times. - Don't forget to about your skin (especially now during the summer). Your 30s is the time when the sunburns that you had in your teens and 20s start manifesting themselves in the form of melanoma. Make sure your primary doctor or dermatologist is giving you a full body exam and checking your skin to make sure there is nothing abnormal. - Wear sunglasses. Sun exposure to your eyes in your younger years is what leads to formation of cataracts down the line. Just think of it this way - with sunglasses being all the rage now, you'll be in fashion. - Aging starts at age 30. To combat this, make exercise and a healthy diet an integral part of your life. Forget the drug store potions and elixirs that are so tempting. *Exercise* is the closest thing to the fountain of youth available. It improves overall health and appearance, it can maintain some of the body's functions that decline with aging, and it can restore some functions that have already declined. There is no escaping excerise. - Time to quit any bad habits - such as smoking. Up to 90% of all lung cancers are associated with smoking, and your risk rises with the number of cigarettes you smoke and the number of years you've smoked. Try to quit as soon as possible.
