I apologize if my words were taken to mean 'no apple or other OSes'. That wasn't exactly what I meant. I do agree the primary purpose for NLUG is Linux and Open Source. But I use NLUG for networking (socially, and professionally), and to find out about cool technology stuff. All technology stuff is welcome, (at least in my opinion) but there may be some comments/questions/remarks from the peanut gallery. We're IT people, it's what we do.
I look forward to learning about Home Automation options.
