Off Topic, but:

I'm surprised that nobody has suggested they try Windows, since that's
a real POS to work with.  :)

On a recent trip to Southern IL, I stopped at a little pizza place
that uses iMacs as POS terminals.  I would have never guessed that
somebody would write POS software for the Mac, since it's normally
more of an appliance oriented software.  I wonder if they were just
running one of the applications that you've found.
