I can take both sides of this argument, Michael. Sometimes, the muggles have to be shown, errr hit in the head with a clue by four, how an information system has return on investment. Evan is using a F/OSS example to prove the case. The delicate part, which you are correct to point out, is the support issue. How many nights of ~...@#$%^& sales can the establishment afford in lieu of a full service contract? The business is limping now. How dependent is the business on the expanded income by having a proper management system? There is a formula for such an analysis - net present value. That'll throw the muggles for a loop.
