I think it's worth noting, in regards to accreditation, there is a huge debate over regional accreditation (RA) vs national accreditation (NA). RA is the most common type and accepted accreditation BUT you can get a good education from a NA school especially if you've decided to go online for your education. I chose a nationally accredited school because NA schools seem to offer lower tuition/fees (than most RA schools) and because of time (not having to be on a semester based schedule). I do feel I am receiving a good education.
An important point to keep in mind is what you may plan on doing with your degree after you obtain it, in regards to education. Will you continue on or stop after you get your associates. Transferring your credits from an NA school to RA school can sometimes be difficult. CHEA maintains a directory of schools, The Higher Education Transfer Alliance (HETA) http://www.chea.org/heta/default.asp. HETA is a voluntary group of accredited institutions. A school that is a member of HETA tells you that its transfer decisions are not made solely on the basis of the accredited status of a sending institution. This helped me if I decided later to continue my education beyond the associates degree level as to what universities would be more likely to accept my credits earned from my NA school. In addition, I chose a school that had it's courses reviewed by ACE giving me even more choices of colleges that would accept my AS degree if I decide to continue on. Point is... there's a lot to the accreditation thing.
