I had a cable tester and it was nothing but a continuity tester (like this
one) an I have never had a problem with any cable that tested correctly, but
I was not pushing the boundaries on the specification.


One hint to everyone, if you are going to buy pre-made cables and need one
"now" The HomeDepot caries them cheaply and I have not had any problems with
them.  Lowes on the other hand are expensive.
