Howard,
  I have an ATI HD5770 card in my current desktop... not really an
"older" video card since it is still for sale for approximately the
same price I paid for it a year ago.  I'm considering buying something
like an NVidia GTX 240 for the other machine.  The price is very low
and the price of the GTX 260 (and above are still $180 ish).
