Yes, Elastix is based on Asterisk, so by default *32 adds a number to the
blacklist.  Today's 'phone scammers' have learned to fake Caller ID and
will seldom if ever call from the same apparent number.

I use *32 frequently, and for any phone scammer that doesn't change their
'source IP address', er, Caller ID number, they are permanently blocked.  I
do like that the blacklist doesn't require a 'reload' of Asterisk and
simply takes place immediately.

It is also SWEET to have someone call with an arrogant attitude (which has
only happened once to me) and to be able to tell them I'm busy and can help
them in a few minutes.  Looking at the call logs, the caller tried for
months to get through.  Every attempt was a completed call (cha-ching!!!)
and received the 3-tone alert, plus the nice lady telling them the number
was not in service.

At work where we have a Trixbox (soon to upgrade to Elastix) I have done a
bit of programming so anyone calling a DID extension we don't have attached
to a local extension will receive the 3-tone sequence followed by Allison
Smith (http://www.theivrvoice.com/) saying the extension is not yet in
service.
