For a few years I have been wanting to set up a home server and
time has come. LOOKING FOR COMMENTS
Requirements:
1) Low power consumption. (I am cheap)
2) No fans
3) Life expectancy longer than my own.
4) SMB server
5) Web server (run coppermine+)
6) BackupPC server
7) Other servers to be determined.
Right now I am thinking of doing:
Operating System: OpenMediaVault (Also considered NAS4Free,
formally FreeNAS)
CUP: Atom Quad ~1.7 Gig Hz
Mother Board, Looking at Supermicro MBD-A1SAM-2550F-0, uATX, $260
Over kill, but covers all of my requirements.
Have no clue where it gets its power from. Is it just 12 V?
Case: Ordered, delivery this week.
