My go-to for things like this is to start with lowendbox.com. This is not a provider; it is a blog that takes, as submissions, suggestions for hosting companies in the low-end space. At one time, that meant about $7/mo or less. I have two services currently and have had more in the past, from providers listed on this site. One is a "storage VPS", meaning one that provides a lot of disk space, and the other is a hosting provider that provides a lot of RAM, which is useful for running packaged software that may use a Java daemon or two.
They'll let you choose a base OS (CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian are all typical choices). From there, you set up what you want. It's ideal for people like us, who may want a machine in the cloud to host services and to tinker with, but don't want to spend a lot of money doing it. A caution, though: this is not going to be as simple as running GSuite. Personally, on my domain, with a single user, I'm probably going to keep Google Workspace, since it's only $6/mo for my single user, at least until they start raising prices (and I suspect they will).
