I've streamed close to a thousand hours of 720p mp4 video on OBS running on Ubuntu 18&20 LTS ---> NOT ONE CRASH YET <<--- (*very unlike Win10 which has frozen up on me at least half a dozen times and taken 18 minutes to reboot*). I suspect Kubuntu LTS would perform the same and look more like Windows, but if their main function is streaming OBS, I doubt it would take any longer to learn to do it on Ubuntu vs. Kubuntu.
I've done this on two different systems. One system was a Dell i7 with 12GB RAM (new from BestBuy). Currently I'm on a used HPZ820 with 128GB RAM. My streaming has all been on OBS's VLC player option as a source, not live switched video. Hope that helps.
