I believe we need to make some changes to the Rules. I propose (1) Minimum Innings and At Bats:
1. I believe we need to address minimum innings andat bat requirements. a. The current requirementsper the constitution are 6,000 AB and 1,500 innings. b. What does this mean:6,000/162 games = 37.037 AB and 1,500/162 = 9.259 IP. c. I reviewed the league'sfinal stats. Virginia had the most ABs at 5,727 (Newton had the least number ofABs with 5,436) and Brooklyn had the most innings pitched at 1,501 (Tidewaterhad the least at 1,432). d. Thus, the minimumrequirements appear OK. e. However,(1) the league had record over usage this year, even I had a SP go over hismaximum IP by 5 innings and this was after Robert split the last month in halfso each manager could revise his player's usage the last 15 games to avoid overusage. (2) Additionally, Robert and Lou revised the schedule at the beginningof the season so teams played 1/2 their games at home and 1/2 on the road eachmonth to help monitor usage and avoid having a month long road trip. (3) Mypersonal experience is that this 1,500 innings was not enough as I startedsetting my pitchers to not pitch more than 6 innings per start and I was relievingquickly at home just to avoid over usage. I would leave ABs at 6,000 and move minimum innings to 1,600innings. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NOMBL" group.
