I haven't been using much linux-audio stuff for the past couple of years, but
the recent activity on this list inspired me to take another look at this fun
stuff. The session manager, timeline, and mixer all seemed to be quite solid
and stable, and I liked the responsive feel of the transport to keyboard
control very much. Didn't have quite as easy of a time using keyboard for the
mixer, but it's possible I just haven't figured it out yet. The major thing
that stumped me was how to import existing audio sources into the timeline. As
a last resort, I decided to RTFM and saw drag-n-drop mentioned, which doesn't
really work for my purposes. Is there another way that I'm missing, short of
editing the session file (which was actually very friendly looking, I'll
admit)? If there's a way to initiate an import via external command (from mc or
whatever) that would be even better. :) Oh, and will I run into trouble mixing
wav and flac sources, as long as they're all the same rate?

Also, I've never used a session manager previously, and was wondering if
there's a best practice for using NSM to start and stop jackd along with
everything else, particularly in the case where I'm using qjackctl for
plumbing, etc... any input appreciated.

Oh, and since I'll be looking at the online docs over the next couple of days,
I'd be happy to fix minor typos etc. if granted wiki access. I noticed at least
one case of word doubling in my earlier perusal...
