Excellent. Yes, there are still plenty of problems with that
branch, but for me it's at least as fast as the pre-Cairo
non-sequencer. Good to know it's on the right track.

You were also correct about me having an X11 prob.

Just read that some time ago NVidia announced that they would
    change the default
setting for AllowSHMPixmaps from true to false.

Cairo uses SHM pixmaps only, no images, so ...no fun for me.
I just added ||Option "AllowSHMPixmaps" "1" to ¤rg.conf and the
    slowness is gone.

Also found out about zynn having an NTK gui...looks good.
But when i moved just one slider xorg used 92% cpu.
Now all is ok....except the NVidia driver has to do without
"some optimizations" ( nvidia site didn't specify).

Cairo should use SHM_Images...that works everywhere...

That's interesting. Do you have any links to more information? I might put something about it in the wiki.

NVidia announcement : http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_amd64_180.22.html
---------
*Version: 180.22
Operating System: Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T)
Release Date: January 8, 2009
-------------

*Disabled shared memory X pixmaps by default; see the "AllowSHMPixmaps" option.

--------------

That's in fact all...and some forum entries where that option is discussed.
I just mailed the cairo list to ask if shm-images are going to be used also.

For NTK : users with nvidia should add that option to their xorg.conf.
