There may be a cut-off to where you use plugins in Non directly. That is, from my understanding, the support for ladspa is kind of an add on, and not a key feature. I think most of us using Non with a lot of plugins use another app in the jack chain.
In another thread, I said I use jalv for lv2, but the Non docs and others on that thread found Carla to be the bomb. I had trouble getting it working a while back, but KXStudio provides a deb for it I didn't know about: http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Applications:Carla. The point here is as your projects get more elaborate it'll be more than just "this plugin is missing this feature in Non," or "where's lv2 support" etc, and more Non is about doing what it does really well, and elaborate plugin support isn't its thing. Therefore, Nons design is more inclined towards it playing well with plugins connected through jack, or any other set of components to augment Non's core features.
