I hit this problem at first. I made some large, complex templates but soon realised that making a lot of changes in a busy recording situation was too difficult. I've since made a set of very simple templates for 8, 12, 16 and 24 track recording which can be added to as required. I'm not using external plugins during recording though, so maybe my use case is simpler than yours. John
