WARANGAL: Five engineering students of Varada Reddy Engineering College
in Annasagar village of Hasanparthy mandal in Warangal district were
arrested on the charges of ragging a junior student. The incident which
occurred ten days ago, came to light after the college principal lodged
a complaint with the police today.

About 10 days ago, a first year engineering student who was allegedly
ragged by his seniors, lodged a complaint with the college principal
Ramana Rao accusing five senior students of the college - Abhinav,
Lakshman Rao, Venkateswara Reddy, Padmanabha Rao and Prasanth - of
ragging him. The college principal probed into the incident and
suspended all the five students holding them responsible for ragging
their junior student.

However, the senior students launched an agitation demanding lifting of
their suspension. Irked over the behaviour of the senior students, the
principal Ramana Rao today approached the police and lodged a
complaint. THe police arrested all the five students and will produce
them before the court tomorrow.

The college students boycotted classes and demanded the management to
withdraw the cases against the senior students.
