Hi, I have issues understanding what people are trying to convey using this 'chain mail'. Was it to know the ‘intention of the mail’ or find mistakes with the mail? When the proceedings were supposed to go to charity, why would the organizers lie for some individuals saying it is ‘purely commercial entertainment’? Most of the proceedings from such entertainment programmes go to the victims. Being organizers, we well know who mix up charity with entertainment. Entertainment is a tried and tested technique of accumulating funds for victims. I hope the individuals know that celebrities use Entertainment as the only method and I can give a thousand examples when Entertainment has been chosen over other techniques. I hope individuals should know that people are generally happy to know that their money goes for charity. It does not matter whether WE announce the intention as raising funds before or after the programme. If people are suspicious, they will never cease to be so. Organizers cannot help changing people’s attitude towards an organization. There would always be a group of people who may think everything we do is for profit. Has any individual ever tried knowing why it was cancelled? We, proudly, declare that the intentions were always good but it did not materialize at the 11th hour due to some unprecedented and irresolvable issues. Instead of advising, the ‘so concerned people’ should try supporting the organizers as the objective was always in good faith. Therefore, when we try to do something for others, it is better to say it after we have done that something, than to advertise what we "intend to do". To take the example of the show, it could have been organised/advertised as a purely com mercial entertainment with leading musical performers participating. No one was going to prevent the organisers from declaring during the show, or even afterwards, that they were going to donate the profits for the victims of the blast. Even better, in my opinion, would have been to quietly donate the profits without telling anyone. Lest this sounds like I am taking a "holier than thou" attitude, I hasten to point out that my advice has practical sides to it. (1) people these days do not want to mix-up their charity and their entertainment (2) It removes the suspicion that someone is trying to make a profit in the name of charity (3) No expectation would be created about the charity part (it is a commercial profit/loss vernture after all), thereby freeing the organisers to focus on making as much money as possible without losing sleep over "what people will think if we do this or that". The goal, after all, was to make as much money as possible (for the victims)! (4) if the organisers made a loss, they simply would have made a loss: they would not have to explain to suspicous patrons why they were not donating anything!
