Hi
My english is very bad... No, it's horrible... But I still hope you will
understand
what I am trying to explain...
I think it's pretty irritating, that XHTML/HTML in php, is grey, in Notepad++
Here is an example:
<?php
print "<a href=\"something.php\"><img scr=\"example.jpg\" /></a>";
?>
All the XHTML-code between print " and "; will be light grey in Notepad++
Is there anything I can do about it?
If there isn't anything to do, I'll download an other Notepad replacement...
It's so irritating...
But evrything else is so great, so it would be a shame if I had to do that...
So... - if there is any way to change it, I would be really glad :)

First, I must say I love N++ after just 1 day of using it. I have been a TextPad
user for well over a decade now and have been trying to change to something
else with little success - changing editors is really hard. Until yesterday
when I downloaded N++ at my brother's suggestion. But the then I found that
TextPad had finally, after 2.5+ years come out with an update. I downloaded
the update and found I actually wanted to go back to N++ after only half a day
of using it. That is really amazing.
There is one thing that I really don't like about N++ though, the find in files
feature. It would be so much nicer if it simply remembered my last file filter
and search subdirectory rather than bringing up a dialog on top of a dialog
when I first open the dialog. And simply let me change the filter and search
dir in the main dialog - nesting dialogs is irritating.
Then there are a few other things I think would make it better yet:
1) Allow me to dock Find in Files to the side of my window. Modern screens are
so wide - docking find in files would be clean and useful. I work on a large
project with many file types in many subdirs and a lot of what I do is find
things with *.* as my filter and the project root as my search dir. Also, put
a close button in the upper right which is common practice in most dialogs.
2) Go To Line # should automatically remember where you just came from. TextPad
does that and it is so useful. It makes switching back and forth so easy.
3) I don't understand how the file association tab in the preferences is to
be used.
4) Some minor GUI cleanup (i.e Proper Help pulldown, "Cancel" instead of "I'm
going nowhere") would make it look more professional.

I have completed work on Dutch translation. This is a major rewrite based on
latest 4.0.2.
Unfortunately the English language file does not provide all text to translate.
You can download notepad++ dutch here:

(Forgive me if this has already been addressed.)
When I alt+tab to the Notepad++ window, the view jumps to the top of the
document.
The cursor is still where I left it on the bottom. Is this a bug or a feature,
and if the latter, how can I change this behavior? (I'm using Win Vista with
no npp plugins.) Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I am using notepad++ v4.0.2 with explorer plugin v1.2 beta 1 in Windows Vista,
and when I try to browse network drives the program frequently freezes. I can
browse the drives fine in Windows; it's not a connection problem to the file
server. Any ideas? Is there a workaround for this?

At least I vote for suggestion 1. Results for "Find" and "Find in Files" should
be dock at the bottom of the main window.

I came across the post about using column mode via holding down the ALT key
and dragging the mouse to select. Personally, I prefer Ultra-Edit's one-time
column mode setting.
However, when I was testing column mode, I found that it did not perform as
expected. The problem is that after making a selection, I cannot insert new
text at every row of that column. I can delete but not insert.
Here's an example. Let's say I had this text:
if statement true {
random bit of code;
loop {
more random code;
}
}
Now, if I want to indent the entire block of code to the right, I would use
column mode to create a line (not selecting anything) on the left-most part
of the page and then press spacebar to indent. What results is that only the
first line of the selection is indented... the rest does not move. (Yes, I
know that tabbing a selection in N++ will indent it over. I'm trying to make
a point)
Here's another set of text:
superman
superman
superman
Let's say I want to change that text to all say "sup-woman" using Column Mode
(and yes, I realize a Find/Replace can do that. I'm trying to demonstrate the
usefulness of Column mode insertion). I would highlight the "er" columns and
then start typing "-wo" and it would be done for all rows. However, this is
the result of doing that in N++:
sup-woman
supman
supman
It deleted the colums correctly but could not handle insertion.
Please correct this. This feature is pretty unique and powerful when it works
properly.

Have the same experience over here.
I have a Linux distro running in a VmPlayer on a WinXP host machine (Home
edition
- SP2 installed).
Samba is running under the Linux OS, so I mapped a Windows drive onto the Linux
drive.
When VmPlayer is not running, then of course the mapped Windows drive is not
available too.
If I then have files left open in Notepad++, the program is extremely slow in
reacting (see a lot of time the "not responding" message in the Windows system
overview).
Would be nice if after a few attempts to connect to that file, the editor would
ask to keep the file or just kick it out. But not to hold up the system for
tens of seconds.
Best rgds,
--Geert
