N++ Fortran formatting is mainly for old style Fortran 77 where cols were
important.
Except there is a bug in that they allow 73 cols instead of the standard 72.

I agree is it very annoying for Fortran 90 "free-format" where columns
are irrelevent. N++ incorrectly colour codes and font changes in the wrong
spots.
The best soltn is to wait for an enhancement that either has a Fortran 90 style
or enable users to configure the columns themselves.

I think this is a bug maybe with win2k and NP++

Other people have also reported this....

What version are you running? You might need to update the Explorer 1.2 plugin
for 4.0.2. Visit https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins for details.

Joel,
thank you for dealing with me... :)

I realized, that N++ _has_ the focus after closing the search dialog, so the
fix works fine for me too. But the fenomenon is still there. The problem must
be somewhere else. I'm going to try your reinstall suggestion. I Hope the best.

Otherwise I really like this piece of sw - it is the best editor I have ever
used.

cio,

I'm editing Fortran95 text, and since the advent of Fortran90 about 15 years
ago Fortran programmers have written using free-format layout. Unfortunately
the definitions of Fortran seem to assume the antique fixed-format layout
(labels
in columns 1-5, continuation in column 6, and the rest of the nonsense). I'd
like to just disable syntax highlighting altogether for my files (extensions
.f90 and .f95 generally) but I can't see how to do that.
I've never found a text editor which does the syntax interpretation right, and
I'd prefer to have it all disabled.

Nor can I see how to start Notepad++ with no language assumed: using a switch
of -lNormal text doesn't work, however I surround it with quotes. The best
I've managed to do so far is rather laboriously through the syntax attributes
and change them all to display in black and with no font or font size specified,
but it took me ages to do all that. I can't help feeling that there must be
a better way?

I did not get any reply to my initial message so I'm trying again. If these
questions are already answered somewhere then please point me to them. Again,
I am completely new here.

=================================================
Hi,
I'm new to Notepad++ and to this forum.

Background: I have used WinEdt up to now for TeX-related tasks.
Problems: a) no unicode; b) no bidirectionality.

I use the ConTeXt macropackage, not LaTeX. Scite has strong ConTeXt support
(the main developer uses it) but no bidi (afaik) and a bit alien to my tastes.
Notepad++ seems similar enough to WinEdt/Scite-Scintilla so I have decided to
switch.

Am now working on setting up Notepad++ for TeX/ConTeXt and have some questions;
I am not much of a programmer so please be patient if I appear clueless
at times:

1) In ConTeXt we have very frequent (a la xml) constructs like

\starttext
:
\stoptext

How do I get N++ to recognize these. It seems that N++ recognizes them without
the backslash but not with the backslash.

2) Double-clicking a backslash-command (eg \starttext) selects the text of the
command (starttext) but not the entire command. Can this be configured?

3) ConTeXt commands enclose their options inside of square brackets []. Can
I define a list of option-keywords that will take on a certain color when
typeset
within a [] environment?

4) I could not find an xml file for the TeX-language setup; is it hardwired?

I'm sure I'll have plenty of other questions soon.

Best
Idris

Hi,

Is there a way to configure "files of type" when opening a document? There is
no .tex option, although TeX is a supported language...

What I would like to able to do is have an option like

TeX (*.tex,*.log,*.tuo [etc.])

Please advise, and
Thnx in advance!

Best
Idris

I have been having a problem with Notepad++ 4.0.2 (on WinXP-SP2).  I used the
win installer.exe and always opened files by right clicking in explorer. It
seemed to work fine for a little awhile, but now it never opens. If I look
at my processes after trying to open a file, I do see notepad++ but it's
grabbing
an enourmous amount of memory. Once it was at 250meg, before I killed it.
These were small files (<10k), were local and could be opened in notepad.

Anyway, I've just uninstalled for now.

When I fire CTRL+R the Find field in the form is automatically fully selected.
When I tab through to the Replace field, there is no selection.

I would like the Replace field to be automatically fully selected as well, so
I can see what was typed there before at once, especially how many lines and
other white spaces, and I can choose to replace all the Replace text itself
by simply typing a new one or pasting from the clipboard, as now works so easily
for the Find field.
