Neither of those options do what I want.

If I'm editing a file that uses space based indentation, I need to use space
based indentation too. I'm fine with having to use the space bar for this,
but I don't want Notepad++ to mess with already established leading spaces.

For example:
1.) I'm editing a document that uses space based indentation.
2.) I hit enter on a line with an 8 space indent.
3.) Now I'm on a new line with a two tab indent.
4.) I hit backspace twice and type 8 spaces.
5.) Now my indent matches the previous line.

That's 10 keystrokes whenever I hit enter. It is very annoying.

On space-based indentation files I often find and replace tabs before saving,
but having to do that isn't convenient either.

I guess I could change the global setting whenever I open a file with different
indentation conventions, but that is tedious too. I can't just change all the
files to use the same convention, it isn't under my control.

Thanks,
Josh

I've just updated multi-clipboard plugin to version 1.2.

New features include:
- Added clipboard items to the plugin's menu bar
- Clear clipboard buffer from the plugin's menu bar
- Option to toggle on/off middle mouse click pasting
- Experimental support for copy text on selection
+ Polls text selection at 0.5 seconds frequency and detects text selection
changes
+ Detects if text selection overlaps previous one, or is a new selection,
and add or replace clipboard item accordingly
- Option to toggle on/off auto text selection copying

Hi,

Not sure if this has been asked, if so someone can point me to the thread that
has dealt with it.

Npp is a great tool but why is the edit box allowing user to specify the "user
ext" so limited. I am a .Net programmer and just about all the files, like wsdl,
xsd, csproj, xslt, config and (N)ant scripts are xml types. But I can only
specify
a few and then run out of room.

Can we have a more reasonable limit?

Thanks.

Hi,
first of all thanks for this application, is very useful for my daily work.

That said, I think a lot can be done to improve the Language Menu settings (on
Preferences). I think a behavior as follows would be really
useful/user-friendly:
- move item (to the other list) on double click
- multiple item selection
- move (selected) item(s) on hitting enter
- when moving an item, keep focus on current list, set it to the next (or last)
item
- if possible, sort the languages alphabetically

I have some other feedback, but this particular screen is kind of annoying for
users (I believe). But then again, thank you very much for this tool.

Regards,
Ralph.

On Vista64 I am running Notepad++ 4.1. As another user reported, if you try
& drag the function list window to a different position that window flashes
and gives a keyboard hook error, you lose mouse input, then crashes.

There must be a manual way of specifying the position of the window in a config
file or registry. I want to put that window on the left side, rather than the
default of it being on the right side of the screen. I guessed (wrongly?) to
change curr="1" to curr="0" in this line in config.xml, but that didnt change
anything:
<PluginDlg pluginName="FunctionList.dll" id="0" curr="1" prev="-1"
isVisible="yes"
/>

Hi,
I'm not sure I've understood the whole idea but maybe this could help:

1. Press Ctrl+H (Replace window)
2. Check "Regular Expression"
3. In "Find" write: '^(.)'
4. In "Replace" write: '* \1'
5. Hit "Replace All"

The only thing is that you would need to enter the amount of spaces you want
between with asterisk ('*') and the reference ('\1'); for instance, to shift
the text 10 spaces (assuming it will result in the asterisk and then 9 spaces):
- Find: '^(.)'
- Replace: '* \1'
Note: Remove single quotes around the Find/Replace texts

Ralph

Hello

I am a VB programmer and had contact with notepad++ this year.
I loved the program, but I have made one Editor in Visual Basic that has some
functionalities that could be present in Notepad++ as well

They are:

1- Find, select and replace CR LF characters and other invisible characters
as TAB
2- Regexp working with \n and \r

I didn't manage to see it working in Notepad++ yet.

Regards

Hi there,

Now that the Unicode works fine (I could not get Chinese characters to display
correctly a lot of the time in version 3.9) and now that the find/replace is
all in one place (very cool), my only request (if it cannot already be done)
is to get newline options (and ideally pattern modifiers too) into regular
expressions. I don't see any way to match multiple newline marks...

Oh, and it'd be cool if the Styler Configurator could let you define your own
language--e.g., I'd like to add Smarty templating syntax, so if I could at least
define this myself (if it couldn't be added), I could take advantage of the
nice syntax coloring.

thanks so much,
Brett
