I was using Notepad++ in a two monitor setup, and had it moved on the secondary
monitor. After disconnecting the two monitors, loading notepad++ showed it
correctly
in the task bar but its window was not visible any more. Unless Maximizing it,
I found no other way to bring it in front of my visible monitor area. Perhaps,
you should add a check when loading Notepad++ to verify that the window will
appear in a visible area.

sorry, it's me again: maybe I was too brief..
I think it could be done:
- with a command in menu (and key shortcut), for entire application
- with a button, for entire application
- with a command in contextual menu from file tabs, for every file a different
configuration
- ...
- with a filter (jolly/regex) in preferences, based in filenames (i.e. logs
could be autodetected, .ini not, etc.)

It's only only a suggestion!

thanx

I ran into the same problem.
This happens when you copy just notepad++.exe to a different location, and
execute
it from there.
The mistake I made was misinterpreting the message to copy notepad.exe into
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386, C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache,
C:\WINDOWS\System32
and C:\WINDOWS.
Finding no notepad.exe into the unzipped npp.4.1.2.bin.zip, I thought I had
to use a renamed copy of notepad++.exe
Instead, the mentioned notepad.exe has to be extracted from the separate
downloadable
Notepad ++ Launcher !!!

I think the option "Autoconvert typed HTML/XML to &entities;" should do the
trick, unfortunately it also convers returns in <br /> as well....

A thin line at the margin column point for all languages would be helpful.
For example when writing source code for companies with a
coding standard specifying line width. It seems cleaner than inserting
text into the top/bottom/... of the file

Something like the column marker in Eclipse would be useful
Window\Preferences...\General\Editors\Text Editors
 Check "Show print margin"
 Set a number in "Print margin column"

Hi All,

I am facing a slight problem with UTF-8 encoding. The problem basically is with
UTF-8 (which i need to use) some certain characters are stored at begin of the
file when I save it. it doesn't show up in Notepad++ or even notepad. A guy
suggested a small C program to read the file content and prove there is some
extra characters at the beginning.

This is causing problem when developing PHP as I can't set session data or do
redirects simply because it complains some data have already been sent back.
Below is begin of file when reading using C Program:
-------------
???<?php
session_start();?>
<html>
<head>
-------------

How can I overcome this problem? I need permanent solution not work around for
this file only.
My notebad++ version is 4.0.2

Thanks in advance.

Hello all,

Can someone tell me how to launch files in Opera. I tried to put a quicklauncher
in the Run menu.
But Opera does not start up??? IE and Firefox works fine.

I tried a few things I found on this forum, but they don't work.

Greetings J.

I use N++ with the Business Rules! language all the time. When my language
goes to edit a file, i type edit and it is configured so that it launches N++
%filename% ... this works great, but when the file is already open I'd really
like it NOT to set my cursor back to the top of the file. Is there anyway to
do this?

Don,

Does this mean that you won't even consider it? I have found this feature very
useful using eclipse, with the aptana plugin. It's a fantastic feature... You
have already done it with functions... why not html tags?
