I installed npp under wine/linux and now can invoke the program
successfully. But after I press key combination and switch to a different
language (Farsi), all I get is ? marks instead of language characters
(utf-8). Do you know why this is happening, and how to resolve it. I have no
problem switching to the second language and typing under Windows XP. Thanks
for any help.

Actually I think I've seen something similar in an editor called Taco on a mac.
[...runs off and does a search...]

However, in Taco, I don't know that you can assign your own shortcut key to
it. It looks like it just uses incremental numbering shortcuts.

I don't follow what you mean by F3 should find next in "incremental search
also"??

Incremental search = search again with the last criterion, i.e. do the same
as before, without having to press Ctrl+F again

I have been having issues with this as well. I even modified the xml file
directory,
tried individual commands through the dialog and I've had absolutely no success.

Hi all, I'm using NP++ 3.9 and only recently, noticed this problem.
I'm usually pretty anal about saving all the time. Typically, I'll write a few
lines of code or change a few lines and always press ctrl+S right after. But
apparently, sometimes this doesn't *actually* save the file! Much to my chagrin.
I'd upload the files to my server only to find the changes I made not showing
up...wondering what was going on...then checking the actual file with another
program to find that none of the purported changes had been saved to the file.
To fix this, I've had to override by doing "save as"..."!!! the file already
exists! do you want to replace it" (yeah, yeah)...
I mean, what's going on here!? When I save, I want the file to actually save;
you can't get more basic than that. I'm wondering if this is a known bug, or
if anyone else has experienced this, and if upgrading to NP++ 4 will fix it.
It's a great program, and I'd like to keep using it, but come on, it has to
be *reliable*.

I can't seem to get the indent guide to work. No matter what I do all of my
code is plastered to the left side. If I try to use the tab key then it gets
very jumbled and I can only indent single lines of code, not code blocks.

Hello Kurt,
please follow the install instruction on the Aspell side. Afterwards
Spell-Checker
works. The installer suggest you an directory. At best install it here. But
you can install it in any other directory. Don't forget to install the
dictionaries.

And I have the same request.
Just updated from 3.8 (or maybe 3.9) to 4.1.2 where the find in files is
changed.
Some things are better but I must say that the filter selection is worse (or
maybe I'm doing something wrong). Previously the filter was in relation of the
open file, like when you open a .cpp file, it would look in the .cpp files and
headers. But now it will go default to a search in all files, and the filter
isn't remembered.

There are two alternatives:
1. You have made an error and put the userDefineLang.xml file in the NotePad++
installation folder and not in the Application Data folder. Make sure that you
open the %APPDATA%\NotePad++ folder. There you should find the xml file there.
2. You have chosen not to use %APPDATA% when you installed NotePad++. In this
case I am not sure where the userDefineLang.xml is located...

Would be nice when comparing two files in a view that the cursor synchronize
(with the highlited bar) in both views..( like the option of the scrolling
does)..
so that we can compare the position of a text by looking on the status bar
Would be nice too, to add a vertical line (or horizontal depending on the view)
at the position of the cursor in both views to compare easily the positions...
