Hi,
I am thinking even more that what you are thinking but that might be done
for starters. What I am thinking is a .dll that would return a list of
differences
and line numbers in a structure that would allow us to highlight the differences
in the current tabs inside notepad++, much like having a built-in compare inside
notepad++. I like winmerge but just for its comparison and the editor I would
like to substitute with notepad++. Hope that clears my request. Thanks for your
interest, please provide suggestions on this one.
Sincerely,
Ranganathan Sridharan

I wouldn't know how to do this without using the installer.
You could try to copy your configuration files elsewhere, overwrite the
installation,
then compare the configuration files to see what's different. If the only thing
that is different is your custom stuff, then you could try copying your
configuration
files back... --Joel

Then maybe it's a bug, and you should post a bug report with how you duplicate
it.
I can't help you; I use a different browser. Maybe someone who uses IE with
that feature set to open Notepad++ knows what you are talking about. --Joel

Use the command line parameter to open Notepad++ in a separate instance. I
think the parameter is "-multiInst". The info is in the FAQ on the website.

No problems. I personally love that I can start up where I left off. I'm
constantly
using this feature but I can totally see how it could annoy some people. :)

The installer is pretty smart about keeping your old configuration. Just
install
over it -- after making a backup of the configuration (*.xml, *.ini) files.
There may be some considerations if updating with older plugins; you might have
to remove or edit files in the plugins\config subdirectory. --Joel

You are missing what is not there in the current version. You can use a
different
editor, or use an external tool like WinMerge. --Joel

Version 4.2 has this feature, although I've not yet tried it...
"5. Add new feature which backups files in a user specific directory."
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1799093&forum_id=331753
But download version 4.2.1 or later. Link:

Wow that really didn't paste in well. Lines jumbled and tabs seem to have been
stripped from the above. Yuk!
I'll look at hosting my QuickText.ini file somewhere soon. Will let everyone
know when I have it up.
I have made some small improvements to it since this post as well.

Hi
There is a problem in find in files filter, indeed it is not filled with
appropriate
things. Some time, it is filled with path of the file, sometimes with the
correct
file extension but with strange character at the beginning, and often it is
filled with nothing.
Thanks

Hi,
I can confirm this bug. Actually this was there in V4.2 itself and now the
upgrade did not fix this. The character that was typed in the filters field
is either lost and left blank around the next time or is converted to some weird
character. looks like some mess up with unicode characters. Thanks.

This looks like a bug: When I open a local drive, Notepad++ correctly shows
all files in the explorer pane, enabling to open any of them just by
double-clicking
the file. But when I map a network drive into Windows explorer and attempt to
edit the files on that drive, Notepad++ shows only the directories on that
drive,
not the files in it! Very irritating.
Otherwise, a very nice editor. Thanks for the great work!
