well. there's also Anjuta, and i've just played a little bit with kate and it's
not that bad, but i feel notepad++ is a better all-around editor. i haven't
looked thoroughly, and maybe i'm wrong, but i haven't found auto-completion
(although i think notepad++ could do better, and i've opened a topic, but no
answer yet) and there a couple of things that bother me about kate, and anjuta
(anjuta still feels better than kate)....

You could miss certain libraries such as the C++ Runtime from microsoft. Also,
Don Ho recently posted that you should use MultiThreaded runtime library (/MT)
and Not multithreaded DLL library, its under C++/Code Generation/Runtime Library
in project settings if you use Visual Studio

On my co-worker's office PC, there are two error messages: the first about
missing
labraries, and the second is as on my office PC. So I don't think that "my"
error message is about missing DLLs: it seems to be about the plugin itself (?)

Well, I changed that setting (yes, I use VS). Here (at home) I obtained the
same result as with MD (=it works)... i'll check tomorrow at the office.

Ok, I've looked around and haven't been able to find features of this wonderful
program that will do my bidding. And before I start, I don't know how to
program.
I'm looking for a way to do the following:
1. Completely delete a line where a specific character or word comes up (for
instance, "/")
2. Delete all lines that don't meet a specific minimum and maximum length (for
example, every line that isn't between 6-10 characters).
3. It seems like I'm overlooking this one, but is it possible to delete all
marked lines? It would make #1 a lot easier if I just mass-marked every line
with a "/" in it via Find and just deleted them all. Or maybe even marking lines
that are between 6-10 characters long and deleting everything that ISN'T marked,
although neither of that seems to be possible.
I'd greatly appreciate any help, though. I'm dealing with some pretty big files
that I need to consolidate and touch up a little.

To get the Spell checker to run & find dictionaries you may need to set a new
environment variable named 'ASPELL_CONF' to the path Aspell was installed to.
HowTo ... right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced --> Environment
Variables --> System Variables - click new. The path is generally 'C:\Program
Files\Aspell'
FYI - the dictionary install file need to be run locally. It won't install if
you run it off a network share.

I usually copy and paste the filename. Then, I have to type in .txt. Who wants
to type in two more characters ("") and move the cursor around? If you can think
of a way without more key strokes, let me know. They should fix the problem.

It would really be nice if in the style configurator dialog there was a "use
default" checkbox next to the color swatches and fonts. I like to have a tan
colored background on my pages and I was dismayed to find I had to go thru the
whole list and pick a color just so the color behind the text matched the page
color. Also when the color picker comes up, it should be pre-set to the color
of the swatch; since there is no eyedropper tool, you have to remember the exact
color you entered in all the previous selections or they won't match up with
the rest of the page. It shouldn't be too hard to do and it would help a lot.

Hi,
First let me say Notepad++ is very promising!
I don't know how to phrase the request correctly so let me describe a real world
scenario.
I open up an active server page (asp) in Notepad++. I launch the Styler
Configurator.
I select the 'asp' from the 'Language' column and 'WORD' for the 'Style' column.
I'm able to add to the default keywords via the 'User Define Keywords' field.
(this is a *great* feature btw). This however is the only 'Style' that I'm able
to add keywords too.
Ideally I would like to have keywords a certain color, functions & their
properties
another color and lastly application specific names in another color.
Thinking that it was just a UI limitation I tried to add a new entry under ASP
to the langs.xml file (instre2) but it didn't work the way I expected. I also
tried to manually edit the stylers.xml to get the added keywords and function
but failed there too.
After checking through the site I saw the screenshots of the User Defined
Dialog.
Here there are entries for 4 lists of keywords (that's great!!) However I'm
not able to replicate the style that is currently set the default for ASP.
There's
no way to tell it to only apply these styles within (<%, %>) or
(<script></script>).
There's also no way of telling it to style javascript, css, or (x)html like
the default ASP language style does.
So very good on the additional keywords!! But I can't quite replicate the built
in ASP style yet. My request is to either:
1. Add additional keyword lists to the built-in languages (ASP in this case)
or
2. (Under User Define Dialog) Add support for script delimiters (within which
the user defined style is applied) AND Add a selection list to allow selection
of built-in language styles (in ASP case javascript, css, and (x)html)
Does that make sense?
If anyone can help with a temporary workaround that would be fantastic!!

Nobody (a first name would help), why should I look at the code? It is no secret
that I do not know c or c++. I have stated that in more than one post. I know
assembler, VFP, COBOL, and fortran. Not the creme of the crop, but I like coding
in those languages. You volunteered to try and take on the project. By the way,
who is this? If I did know anything about c or c++ I would gladly take a look
at it. I do not have any time to learn any new languages right now. The one
question I have consistently asked is: Is this easy or hard. After two months
(or is it three) I have yet to get an answer to that question. Are you saying
this is too hard and complex to do? If so, that is all I need to know (all I
ever asked for). Is it easy or hard? If it can't be done right now maybe it
could be put on the wish list.
