Hi chda,
You could try using Vitaliy Dovgan's NppExec plug-in in combination with plain
old telnet.exe, WinSCP or any other console-based app.
The plug-in is included with Np++ nowadays, but it can also be downloaded from
the npp-plugins project here on sf.net:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=189927&package_id=224034

This bug still exists when it should not, I'm using v4.4 of Notepad++. I should
in fact be able to select UTF-8 without BOM, especially when I declare the
encoding
in the document. For example in a HTML document in the meta tag, eg:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

can I assume that this is not possible at the moment since no one answers? :)
If so, could there be made a change to N++ to make this possible in the future?

The answer is
Ctrl + R to bring up the advanced find and replace function
Ctrl + M will insert a character that you can not see but will create a CRLF
or Find a CRLF depending on what you what to do.
Turn of Regular expression and selection
I also found it useful to tick "one per line".

I often find myself dragging files into Notepad++ to open, and it would be a
handy time-saver to be able to drag an entire directory in.
Currently if you try, an error dialog pops up saying "Cannot open file
R:\directoryname".
Could this instead load all the files from that directory?
Better yet, could this load all the files that have recognised extensions (ie
ignoring .gif files etc)? That might be a config option. I guess "recursive"
would be a useful setting also.
Notepad++ is great and keeps getting better, btw.

Did you try dragging mulitple files at once?
Just select all files in the directory in Eplorer (CTRL+A) and drag them to
NP++.
You might as well sort on "registered file type" first.
There is, unfortunately, no way I know to sort files in Explorer by their real
extension.

Yes, dragging multiple files works brilliantly and I already do that often.
But obviously that means:
1) Click on directory to open it
2) Selecting all the files I want
3) Drag files to NP++
What I want to instead is:
1) Drag directory to NP++
purely because it saves two steps. If I can save the filtering step too, so
much the better.
If NP++ opened all files whenever passed a directory name, it should also be
possible to add a "Open contents in Notepad++" right click context menu action
to folders, which would be neat.
(Incidentally, I *can* sort files by their real extension, but that's because
I use Directory Opus as my file manager rather than Explorer.)

Hi Ken.
If you check the other forums, you'll see that a Wiki movement has started on
the main Notepad++ page. There have also been discussions about starting similar
for plugins.
I guess it's a hassle to keep the core Notepad++ documents up to date, but
keeping
up to date all plugins is impossible for one or even a few persons.
You have mentioned a .chm solution. Do you have experience in this field?
I think that the only way to have a relatively up to date documentation in to
have it in a form that the community can contribute. Any suggestions on how
to make this work?
Best,
-Zobo

I am having a bit of a problem with ftp_synchronize [on N++ 4.5]: I can't get
it to download a directory. All it tells me is "directory operation failed".
In "messages" window I can't see it actually trying to do the DIR command.
I can see all the transations [-> CWD, etc] but I don't actually see a "-> DIR"
so I'm not sure exactly how it is trying to do the directory listing.
My commands window [up to the "directory operation failed" is:
Response (220): FtpBridge ready
-> USER bernie
Response (230): Command has no impact
-> SYST
Response (215): UNIX
-> CWD /home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin
Response (250): "/mnt/home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin" is current directory
-> PWD
Response (257): "/mnt/home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin" is current directory
-> PWD
Response (257): "/mnt/home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin" is current directory
-> CWD /mnt/home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin
Response (250): "/mnt/home/apd/shopping/cgi-bin" is current directory
-> PASV
Response (227): Entering Passive Mode (127,0,0,1,17,12)
And then it is dead.
/Bernie\
