First let me say I love this editor. And the price is great! (Ver 4.7.5 running
in Win XP pro.) I'm not sure how or to who to report bugs.
I needed to insert a character at the beginning of each row of an ascii text
file. I began recording a macro and pressed these keys three or four times:
2 <down arrow><left arrow>
That caused the each line to begin with a '2'. Then when I replayed/ran the
macro, the '2' was inserted in different positions in the lines.
I got around the problem by recording: 2<down arrow><Home key> a few times.
That played back correctly.
So, what's the process for reporting bugs? Did I do anything wrong?

it seems that inputting Japanese characters still doesn't work in version
4.8.2.

The bug report for unicode input problem is posted over and over again, though
this bug is fixed in newest release v4.8.2.
If you have such problem, please remove HexEditor and MultiClipboard plugins
from "plugins" directory.
These 2 plugins have the incomparability with v4.8.2 for the non-western
characters
unicode input issue.
If you find another plugin has the same problem, please let me know.

HTML Tidy is already there - but you need to provide a configuration file that
tells NP++ how to use it. The sample code is text that you can copy and paste
into a document that you have to call "tidycfg.ini", and this file has to go
into the folder "...\Notepad++\plugins\NPPTextFX".

A question: can this plugin invoked automatically? I didn't see an option for
this among the command line parameters. For example, I would like to open
Notepad++
with split view, automatically compared files, vertical scroll locked together.

You did nothing wrong.
There are other ways, though, to insert a character at the beginning of each
line.
Search the forum for inserting or deleting characters or line, possibly
in combination with regex or regular expression.
For reporting bugs, see the Tracker item in the menu bar on top of the page.

If you're refering to this

, it now works fine for me.
The paste list menu will not display unicode text correctly because the plugin
is not compiled in unicode, but selecting and pasting from it is working
correctly.
