Apparently, this currently isn't possible.

Use the following single regex to find or show all the lines you want:
attacker_position "\d+ \-\d+ \-\d+"> *$
Of course, you can also use the victim_position (part) to hide or delete lines
that you do not want.

This is a shortcomming of Wine, it doesnt support Rebars well that hide bars,
like the searchbar.
For some reason, the rebar doesnt report a smaller size if the band is hidden,
and so itll stay visible.
It shouldnt be hiding any lines though, but still, this cannot be fixed by N++.
You can make the background atleast properly redraw if you enable the
incremental
search dialog (thats what it is), press Ctrl-Alt-I.

I noticed N++ is using the silk icon set from famfamfam.com. But I couldn't
find any crediting backlink that is required by the icon's license. Neither
in the software itself nor on the web page.
I think it's fair to give attribution where it is approriate (and required).
Regards,
Matthias

The "-nosession" command line argument, starting Notepad++ without loading the
default session, is nice, but it still updates the default session upon exit.
Is it possible to change the behaviour so that Notepad++ leaves the session.xml
intact when started with "-nosession"?
My intention is to have a short-cut on my quick launch bar that start up
Notepad++
WITH a session containing a bunch of files I very often use. But in addition
I often use the context menu to view/edit various files, but then I would like
a "clean" Notepad++, WITHOUT session, every time (-multiInst)!
I've noticed the nppcm has a registry setting "Multi" that adds the "-multiInst"
command line argument when launching Notepad++ from Context Menu (at least the
64-bit version from Harry B. har it). I would love to have "-nosession" added
as a registry setting also! This way context menu can launch "Notepad++.exe
-multiInst -nosession", while my quick launch shortcut just launches
"Notepad++.exe"
with no arguments (if -nosession wouldn't destroy my default session).
An additional feature I would love is a new command line argument that opens
a custom session XML-file other than the default one! I've seen others mention
this too in this forum. It would probably solve much of the problems described
above, but such a new command line argument would probably not make Notepad++
automatically save the given session upon exit? If not, then the default session
functionality described above would still be very nice to have!

You're right it is the incremental search bar. I just hadn't used that feature
yet. What's weird is if I roll back to 4.8.5 the search bar appears and
disappears
as would be expected. In 4.9.1 it's there as soon as I start NPP and will not
go away. The first time I hit Ctrl+Alt-I it did redraw it as you said which
at least did make it 'prettier' lol. But it doesn't work at any point after
that.
I figured it was some issue with WINE, but there has to be some change between
4.8.5 and 4.9.1 on NPP's part because it'll go away in the older version. I'll
just stick with it for now. Thanks for the help.

I know there are several threads about this, but I must have not dug deep enough
to find the answer. I use Notepad ++ almost exclusively, however, it crashes
quite hard when I try to open very large files. We receive files from our
mainframe
that span anywhere from 1kb-14gb. Notepad ++ has some great functionality that
we utilize on these smaller files, however, upon trying to open larger files,
we get a hard crash. V or UltraEdit open these files up with no problem,
however,
it lacks the functionality I desire (or that I'm used to being readily
available)
in NotePad ++. Any answers, solutions, patches?

I did dig a bit deeper and found the "fix" or at least one possible fix by
altering
the code. Sorry for the additional post that will now show up on searches.
If I could delete the originating post I would.
