* Thread starting message:
Notepad++ v5 Official Release is available (New)
By: Don HO (donho) - 2008-07-06 00:15
Notepad++ is version 5 now...
* My report's title specifically mentions the version number:
V5or Hide Lines behavior: how has it changed? (New)
By: Fool4UAnyway (fool4uanyway) - 2008-07-07 15:43
* My remark, referring to the information in the starting message:
> 10. Change hide lines behaviour : Hide lines now saved during switches.
This doesn't seem to work for me.
...
Do I do something wrong or is it still Notepad++?
* Is this Don's avoiding attitude, is he in denial? :
> It works fine for me.
> Make sure it's v5 that you launch.
C'mon Don, I think you can understand that I really, REALLY do use version 5.0
OR. I installed it yesterday and today on two computers. Both still show the
old behavior.
OK, you didn't (specifically, intentionally?) ask to report bugs in your release
message, but does your reply imply that you also don't want to know about them?
Is this your default answer to a bug report for anything that happens to work
for you?
Hey, I may be a fool, but I'm not stupid!

donho: good for you. Saying just about anything these days will probably offend
someone, somewhere - some people will always take the wrong things waaaay too
seriously. Thanks for the awesome software - and open source no less!
I was going to say: well, I got the error now too! ... using v4.9.2 - but then
I just noticed there's a v5! Sweet! Thanks again! Gonna go check that out right
now!

I said "Make sure it's v5 that you launch." because including notepad++ team
members and me it happens to us several times that we thought we launch the
correct version (by double clicking on correct version), but it's not, due to
Notepad++ unique instance nature (when another version is already launched).
Whereas that I said "It works fine for me." : I did the test again before answer
your post. In this case, I wait for the same issue to have more detail since
I have no idea why it doesn't work for you.
> Is this Don's avoiding attitude, is he in denial? :
If it's true, then I won't bother to answer your post, and especially I don't
think I have to answer any post in this forum.

I suppose you did the exact same test as I described. It is not necessary to
select all lines first: in both cases, I lose the hiding of lines after
returning
from another tab. It also doesn't matter if I switch by clicking a(nother) tab
or by using Ctrl(+Shift)+Tab.
I also removed all plugins except TextFX. This made no difference.
Notepad++ v5.0 Build time : Jul 6 2008 - 01:12:14

Which OS do you have (tested under xp and vista, w/o problem)?
Which lexer do you choose when you hide lines?

As a jump start this might help:
Stop Notepad++ and copy the following <UserLang>-section into your

Yes but how can I "import" these files so that there are taken into account
by npp? Currently, I cannot see a difference in the auto completion between
v5.0 and 4.9.

Ok, so now Load Filenames are incorrect on both NPPN_FILEBEFOREOPEN and
NPPN_FILEOPENED
Any calls to NPPM_GETFILENAME will get the file that is currently selected,
but it looks like that selection doesn't update until after the OPENED call.
It works ok for the first file opened, but any files open thereafter will not
get a correct filename from NPPM_GETFILENAME.
This is version 5.0

Windows XP Home at home, Windows XP Office Professional at the office.

I have a .csv Normal text file and a SQL file at work. I have no indication
that the lexer matters.

Version 5 -
I'm new to the awesomeness of NPP.
What is the File Associations tab for?
What's the difference between a Supported extension and a Registered extension?
The arrows only go one way in this menu... If you change settings here, how
are they changed back?
