I must have done something wrong when I copied the 5.4 files, because now I
get the dialog, and could save the change. When I wrote my post I sure didn't
get it, and the change was lost.
So it's a good feature after all :-)
Could be the same sort of mix-up that caused alt-f5 to fail and then work
again.

PS: I'm not sure I'm able to link a stock pcre.dll with N++ to process regular
expression in a "reasonable" way, ie with ? | { } enabled, but that would be
a tremendous goody from Scintilla v1.77.

The colours are why people use Notepad++ and various other editors that offer
colour syntax highlighting.
If you don't want it on, then select the Language 'Normal Text', or stick with
Notepad.

works for me using 5.1.2.0 - (I am in progress manually updating to 5.4rc ansi
as I read this (so far I've always done updates by copying files - and I don't
update very often) - hmmm should I stop)
however when I use compare (which is a critical plugin) I quit n++ afterwards
and restart as the window draw gets screwed up
I think we need a new compare writer as that guy seems gone for a year now
(while
it does the most critical function very well, it needs attention)?

cchris, thanks, sorry to be a problem, but I activiated the SCI_formfeed to
Ctrl-F1, and I can see the FF on the page, but it is not translating to the
printout. The black-boxed FF just prints where I inserted it, instead of it
being a command, like so:
COMMENT END SCRIPT: F2_GFT_FINDWIRES
FF
COMMENT SCRIPT: FZ_GFT_DELETE_PREV_RUN
Am I using the command wrong? I might be spoiled by MS (ugh)

I'm using compare plugin 5.1.1 which is supposedly from 2/22/08 which I guess
is the latest not unicode. (I hope the author forgives me because I do not mean
to demean at all - the engine on this thing has got to be absolutely brilliant).

I agree with Jan; this is a benefit of updating to Sci 1.77 and should be taken
advantage of.
The question still remains as to which value to set it to. The Sci
documentation
( http://www.scintilla.org/ScintillaDoc.html#SCI_SETINDENTATIONGUIDES )
An extra attrib to the language node in the style xml with a default of
SC_IV_REAL
if not set?
I played around with using the two new values on an xml and cpp doc; when the
value was set to SC_IV_LOOKFORWARD there was a noticeable lag in response time
after switching views, the lag was still there; but hardly noticeable when using
SC_IV_LOOKBOTH.

I went ahead and installed N++ 5.4rc ansi and now compare 5.1.1 does not work
correctly - it finds a lot of the diffs but the two compare windows do not line
up side by side - and it fails to highlight sections missing altogether in one
file - and the windows/tabs now get rearranged so the starting left window is
on the right and vice-versa - to name some of what is peculiar
dammit
