Not all buttons are greyed out. One of hem has a crank on it, and tooltips as
"Settings".
You probably don't have any profile set. Click New and then enter connction
info. You may review the options on the other tab. Click Apply when done on
a profile. Close dialog when all done.
Now the connect button is active, and has a menu with one entry per defined
profile. Just works.

Three points to look at erhaps:
1/ C and C++ use different highlighting schemes. In particular, .h files are
considered as C++;
2/ Look for the STRING style for both C and C++, and adjust the font there
3/ If you have any Global Style -> Global Override settins checked, uncheck
them.
Problem still there?

You can always TextFX -> TextFX Edit -> Reindent C++ code after the facts. Or
Surround and indent { text lines }, on the same menu section.
But I don't think it is done in real time. I always want to disable the
distracting
feature in other editors which have it, anyway...
Perhaps try to formalise your feature request on IdeaTorent, so that there is
a chance to gauge how popular it would be. The tool is new, so the pages aren't
too much visited so far.
You still may have to use some visible character instead of leading tab/spaces
though

For the menu items which perform the same command as some toolbar button, the
corresponding icon (or the standard 16x16) can be added easily in the code.
Using icons on menus could be toggled on the fly on the Prefs dialog, and kept
in config.xml (default=No icons, for compatibility).
For people who would like to add more icons still, the technique used in
toolbarIcons.xml could be used. Or even the file itself, though it would have
to be renamed.

Aha-ha! It works!
Thanks ever so much almostautomated for your help on this, it's great how much
assistance is given to new plugin developers - and the IRC channel seems to
be working out too!
Incidentally, and I realise this may be back tracking a bit looking at the code,
but instead of NPPM_GETDOCSTATUS as you suggested, how about
NPPN_BUFFERACTIVATING,
to occur before the actual change has been made, which make things like this
simpler? Just a thought, and obviously I don't understand the repercussions
of this deep down.
So, fool4uanyway, you shall go to the ball, with read only statuses! 1.0 is
nearly there...
Cheers,
Dave.

This is why Greg and I have been working on the newer wiki so that it becomes
a centralised information repository.
I think the list
at
https://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Plugin_central
is complete as of today, but for the following issues:
1/ I didn't check all the current ANSI versions yet; some may well be
inaccurate.
Unicode versions should be right.
2/ A couple plugins have been excluded because they were known to duplicate
a functionality that is now standard in NP++. Or some for which tests were
announced,
then no release anouncemet.
3/ I had thought about putting external lexers in a distinct category, but will
probably recant. So, at least the KVS lexer by garthex is missing, will add
back today.
The organisation of the new wiki is still being discussed, and thee are still
areas with wide holes.
If anyone viewing that page notices an error or omission, then the wiki
principle
applies: log on and correct it yourself. Copy and paste is the simplest way
to keep formatting consistent, unless you wish to change the format of course
:-)
I'll post this on the Plugin Development forum right away, in an exceptional
break to the good practice of avoiding cross posting.

It is not me who has problems getting the Euro Symbol displayed. User's
web-client
will show a mess if the file is not proper encoded, unless i use entities which
is not really comfortable. Therefore the editor must be able to do so,
and unfortunally notepadd++ is not. I am afraid i have to look for something
else...
regards wende
