I agree, NotePad++ forces you to have at least one document open and it would
be nice to have an empty window with no open documents. I can see why the
designer
might want to implement it this way, because what's the point of having the
program open if you are not working with anything, but I disagree. It's nice
to have a blank screen when there is nothing open so you have a starting point,
also so you are assured all documents are closed. Plus, nearly every program
I've used that can open multiple documents has the ability to stay open with
no documents open. It would be nice if the program conformed to what was
standard.
Can I make this a feature request?

NotePadd++ has the ability to show spaces and tabs together, but not just one
or the other exclusively. It would be nice if the 2 were broken up. When I
open documents I always look for tabs to filter them out if there are any, so
I leave tabs showing all of the time. However, I don't like to leave spaces
showing all of the time because it clutters the screen. It would be great if
NPP had an option to toggle the viewing of spaces and tabs independent of each
other. FYI, the option to turn both on in 5.4.5 is "View-Symbol-Show White
Space and Tab".

Sounds like a job for a scripting language like VBScript.
VBScript can get a list of files in a folder, and loop thru them, open each
file
and replace text and re-save the file.

a tab, some spaces and another tab? Could happen after copy-paste

I, too, would really appreciate the ability to customize menus (and toolbars).
This is editor has an amazing amount of functionality, but not everybody uses
everything. Any possibilities for basing the menus on easily-customizable
