Yeah, my design will support reading with one key and writing with another.  
Actually, it will always do this, as each file has a separate key.  So yes, you 
could force a compaction to force a rekey.  Agreed about looking later at how 
to optimize this.

Overall, then, Keith, does the proposal make sense?  Seems workable?
