Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-2287: -------------------------------------- bq. I'd very strongly prefer we use the POSIX logger and let the syslogd, journald, or equivalent deal with log management for anything outside of the log4j logs I think I missed this point of this comment. I thought you were saying that we could use logger as a bridge to support our .out/.err files _as well as_ support writing to syslog. Replacing the out/err files is not the intent of this change, and, as such, I do not intend to do it. > Logs are overwritten upon restart > --------------------------------- > > Key: ACCUMULO-2287 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-2287 > Project: Accumulo > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: master, tserver > Affects Versions: 1.4.4, 1.5.0, 1.6.0, 1.7.0 > Reporter: Mike Drob > Assignee: Josh Elser > Fix For: 1.8.0 > > > When a server is restarted, then it overwrites the contents of the .out and > .err files. This makes it more difficult to debug failures if you have > something like puppet or supervisord ensuring that your processes are always > running. We should figure out how to roll the files instead. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
