This crash is the Spring Loaded agent, not controller inheritance. Jeff Brown''s sample of a controller extending a plain ``BaseController`` did not crash. The reporter then isolated it to ``agent "org.springframework:springloaded:1.3.0.BUILD-20210404.024037-2"``, and Jeff reproduced the ``SIGSEGV`` at ``pc=0x0`` only after adding that agent, on Zulu 8. The ``hs_err`` frame is the JVM dying inside ``AbstractMethodError.<init>``. A controller may still extend a class. ``ResponseRenderer.render(Map)`` still sets ``modelAndView`` through ``GroovyObject.setProperty``. Spring Loaded is no longer part of Grails: 705f5410d8 (2025-09-24, #14993) removed it, and ``8.0.x`` (``d13aa332``) has no ``springloaded`` reference. That commit is in the 7.0.0 through 7.2.4 tags and in ``v8.0.0-M1`` through ``v8.0.0-RC2``. Closing as not a Grails core defect. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
