Concerning the folding the build / collapsing, I disagree with this change. https://github.com/apache/grails-core/pull/16337#issuecomment-6002747095 documents why I disagree. At a high level, collapsing the build is the opposite of what Gradle sugests and the core issue this ticket is trying to address is instability due to custom build logic.
