to clarify: it's just the message we're vetting (and the tag signature if you
pull down the repo).
the tar and zip files are a thing that github automatically make for every tag.
They should end up matching a checkout of the same commit hash from the git
repo. given your diff above it looks like they do, since that's the same result
if you diff the source artifact from dist and the release commit hash.
