Agreed - Nuno actually looked angry when Cav fluffed that chance in the last few mins when he got it around the keeper, had an open goal but lost control of the ball... And Traore looked very 1 dimensional - run wide past the defender and then float a cross in for the keeper to grab... Our squad is actually way too shallow for Europe too - if we make Europe (which we still might) it will decimate the team. I'd rather a year consolidating the position on the table - make another run deep into the FA Cup - then challenge for Europe when we have more depth. To be at our best today we can rest maybe 1 midfielder and 1 defender (and probably the goalie) without impacting the ability to win games. For Europe you need a squad of at least 22 number 1 picks. We have 14 at the moment I reckon. Don't get me wrong - they are a world class 14 - but would we be anywhere near where we are (or got to in the FA Cup) if Jiminez and Moutinho got season-ending injuries early in the season?
The important point is to not let this loss take the shine of what has been probably the best Wolves season for most people in this group - and most of their fans. We didn't let it get us down when we lost to Huddersfield (twice!). The manner of the loss today was what was most heartbreaking - but still - Watford are a good team who are in a purple patch themselves when it comes to form, so we can hold our heads high!
