Hello,
This test release includes a new cluster/block allocator to improve large
file performance in close to full and/or highly fragmented disk scenarios,
and without negatively effecting old, unrelated performances, reliability
and functionality.
This version is being tested for over two weeks, having positive feedbacks,
no apparent side-effects, and only improvements are visible which are
sometimes quite impressive. For example to copy a CD ISO image in a 80%
full disk scenario which is very fragmented gives the below performance
numbers:
COPIED ntfs-3g-1.0 ntfs-3g-1.320-RC
47251456 6% 14.91MB/s 16.93MB/s

Tiotest numbers with 4 threads give also an order improvement in similar
conditions (0.782 MB/s vs 7.6 MB/s).
Please test it and report if you have problems. Otherwise this release
candidate will be the next stable release after a week.
There are still quite many things which can be improved significantly.
These are just the very first steps to address the most common wishes.
Happy news that the driver is available on NetBSD too!

Major and more visible changes in this release:
o new: --disable-ldconfig configure option
o new: use the 'nonempty' FUSE mount option by default, so the driver
behaves as the in-kernel file systems
o fix: fakeraid/softraid detection was incorrect
o change: performance improvement for writing large files (new block
allocator)
o change: manual update, added access handling, security section
