mhh - recent ntfs-3g seems to need fuse >= 2.6.0 and fuse 2.8.1 readme tells 
that fuse needs at least 2.6.9 kernel. same applies to fuse 2.6.0

so, it seems you`re out of luck.
maybe we can resolve the kernel/driver problem instead ?
2.6.8 is more then five years old, that`s quite ancient kernel....
